Ducks sweep away Flames with 3-1 win in Game 4

Despite the 23-year-old's struggles, the Ducks were able to fight their way back and secure a 3-0 series lead over Calgary.

"One thing I wouldn't be surprised - I think if Treliving is not there, I think Craig Conroy becomes a pretty serious candidate to be the GM there".

"The other thing I always wonder is when you let it get to this point - and I know the Flames have said, 'We do business differently." - well, sometimes you lose control over your business when you do it that way.

Even with two playoff appearances in the last three years, the Flames are still a relatively inexperienced bunch. Trotz called it "a pinball machine out there" and said he wasn't anxious about Holtby but didn't exactly give his reigning Vezina Trophy winning goaltender's play in this series a ringing endorsement.

A flight the next morning awaited him and then the process of planning for his next foe would begin Thursday as he and the players returned home to Orange County. And I know, he wasn't there when they needed him most (game 4), but I think it's a little unfair to put all the blame on him.

"It's a case a little bit of, you're never as good as you think and you're never as bad as you think", Elliott said Tuesday. That's kind of how you get over it.

All three Calgary goalies were on the ice for Tuesday's optional skate - Elliott, Chad Johnson and call-up Jon Gillies.

Carlyle would like nothing more than to eliminate the memories of his last visit to the playoffs, when his Toronto Maple Leafs collapsed in the third period of Game 7 in the first round against the Boston Bruins.

The Calgary Flames are still a young team, and it was evident in all four games.

Verizon's profit sinks as it loses wireless subscribers
Verizon is struggling to fend off smaller rivals T-Mobile US Inc and Sprint Corp in a maturing market for USA wireless service. Instead, companies have been poaching customers from each other with lower prices and offers to pay people to switch.

Bernier went 11-3-2 with a goals-against average of 2.13 from February 20 to March 31 while Gibson was injured.

Anaheim outscored Calgary 9-2 at even strength and held Flames winger Johnny Gaudreau without a goal. "When you review it and watch the tape, he did a heck of a job coming in and settling our group down".

The Flames also failed to score a 5v5 goal and, despite recording 91 scoring 5v5 chances, finished with just two goals in that game state while the Ducks managed nine. The Ducks are up 3-0 in the series and they have won six straight meetings with the Flames. "If you looked at our first 4-5 minutes, we were really jittery".

Elliott, who will be a unrestricted free agent on July 1, was desolate post-game. This is big for us. In the past 48 hours, numerous Flames shook their head while saying some variation of, "We don't feel we deserve to be in this hole, but here we are".

The big benefit with that is extra rest and it will go a long way toward having Cam Fowler and Sami Vatanen back within the defense corps, whose depth came into play in moving past the Flames.

What will decide Wednesday night's game?

Vatanen has an upper-body injury, while Fowler has been out since incurring a knee-to-knee hit from Calgary captain Mark Giordano late in the regular season.

Gulutzan's message to the Flames is to play without fear Wednesday. Some of the contracts he inherited from the previous regime are either expiring right away (say goodbye to Dennis Wideman and Ladislav Smid) or soon (Matt Stajan, one year left at $3.125-million [U.S.]). Not only for us but for them personally, that they're not under the pressure to get back in with a game coming up on Friday or a game coming up on Sunday.

"I didn't like the goal", said Gulutzan.
