Trump Proposed Solar Panel Covered Border Wall

During a meeting with Republican Congressional leaders Tuesday, President Trump described his vision of the border wall along the U.S. -Mexico border - and it's covered with solar panels.

Trump's suggestion reportedly came during a meeting with GOP House and Senate leaders, including House Speaker Paul Ryan (R-Wis.) and Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.), at the White House on Tuesday afternoon.

According to Axios, the president discussed making the wall 40 to 50 feet tall, and said the solar panels would make them "beautiful structures". Politico cited Capitol Hill and White House sources for its report, although it did not name them.

The idea is "still in the early stages of development", Scalise said when asked how it would impact the congressional appropriations process.

With Mexico still refusing to pay for President Donald Trump's southern border wall, the president has a new idea: solar panels. Democrats have said categorically they will not agree to funds for Trump's wall or his aggressive immigration enforcement actions, and many Republican lawmakers who represent border states have said they would only support reasonable solutions and not a 2,000-mile massive barrier.
