Matt Hagan (Funny Car) and Erica Enders (Pro Stock) also notched victories in their respective categories at the ninth of 24 events on the 2017 NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series schedule. If all three maintain qualifying leads, it will be the first time in NHRA history that all three No. 1 qualifiers are female. It mattered not, though, as Force still managed to post the top qualifying speed at 331.53 miles per hour.

"We figured things out in Topeka and I felt like we had our team back so we knew our first win would be right around the corner", Force said. "Having the top time is definitely an exciting feeling, but we need to hold onto that spot heading into race day". Terry McMillen qualified third with a 3.73 at 319.52 in his Amalie Motor Oil Xtermigator dragster during his second qualifying run.

But that script was flipped by Courtney Force on Friday. "We are going to figure out the problem, get it fixed up and be ready to go into qualifying for tomorrow". Not fun for sure, but I really feel for my guys right now because they're putting together an entire new auto. Defending Funny Car champion and 2016 New England Nationals victor Ron Capps qualified third with a pass of 3.863 at 328.30.

Enders had a 6.513 at 213.03 in a Chevy Camaro during the second session. The win was her first of the season. "They have my back, and I will tell you one hundred percent that's the reason why I am able to drive the way I drive".

"We've really been struggling for a while", Force said. Tanner Gray, Camaro, 6.550, 212.06. Points leader Bo Butner finished third in qualifying after a 6.515 pass at 212.03.
