A plane flying from Slovenia to the United Kingdom made an unplanned landing after the pilot had been alerted to a "suspicious conversation" on board.

The spokesman said the flight was diverted to Cologne-Bonn airport around 6:30 p.m. local time (12:30 p.m. ET) after passengers told staff that three men on board were talking about terrorism.

Take-offs and landings at Cologne-Bonn were suspended for three hours after the incident, causing delays across the grid as a number of flights were diverted to other places.

A backpack belonging to the men was blown up by police.

The 151 passengers onboard the flight were evacuated and searched by police, who reportedly made several arrests.

Passengers have been forced to leave an easyJet plane via emergency slides after the pilot landed in Germany over a "suspicious conversation" on board.

Trump accuses ex-FBI chief Comey of lying

A statement from Cologne police said other passengers had made the crew aware of a conversation by three men.

After landing, all 151 passengers used emergency slides to exit the plane before they were interviewed by police at the German airport, the media outlet quoted Airport authorities as saying.

It said the subject had been "terrorist content", without elaborating further.

Federal police seized a backpack that belonged to one of the men, and bomb squad officers exploded it outside of the aircraft, police said.

He said police gathered outside the plane, which was escorted to a quiet area of the airport. "The safety of Easyjet's passengers and crew is our highest priority".

"We thank passengers for their understanding", EasyJet said. The views expressed therein are not necessarily those of stlucianewsonline.com, its sponsors or advertisers.
