Busy Aisha Tyler says goodbye to 'The Talk' after 6 years

On Thursday's episode of The Talk, cohost Aisha Tyler tearfully announced she is leaving after six seasons.

Tyler became emotional as she described her realization that she had to give up the daily talk show.

Tyler reassured the audience and her co-hosts that she would return to the show to guest host and promote her film and television projects. In addition to her hosting position on The Talk, Tyler also hosts Whose Line Is It Anyway? and voices a character on the animated FX series Archer.

She pointed out that the success of Wonder Woman, directed by Patty Jenkins, and Selma's Ava DuVernay as to why the time was right. But Tyler recently got the chance to direct a feature film. In one post, Aisha wrote that life is about change and sometimes it can be both painful and lovely.

Tyler reflected on the "amazing" six years they've shared, saying, "We've had babies and weddings, and you know good things have happened, and you know I went through the biggest breakup of my life with you". "I love being with you every day and I love being out here with you every day". Sheryl Underwood walked around the table to soothe her as she sobbed, while Julie Chen and Sharon Osbourne both held onto her hands during the announcement.

"I have had an unbelievable six years with you guys", Tyler said to her co-hosts. "I'll never be able to thank you guys enough".

Tyler called choosing to leave the show the "hardest decision" of her life.

As Aisha explained her decision to leave, she was surrounded by her supportive co-hosts.

This season of "The Talk" wraps at the end of July.

"I knew that was what I wanted to do the rest of my life, what I wanted to put my energy into", Tyler said of her directing career, "and I started to think about it and could not see how that would work". In the end, there was nothing but love for the ladies of The Talk.
