Singapore celebrates International Day of Yoga

The International Yoga Day will commemorate its third anniversary ever since its inception on June 21, 2015.

Sri Lankan President Maithripala Sirisena and India's High Commissioner in Colombo Taranjit Singh Sandhu Friday joined thousands of yoga enthusiasts at Independence Square in Colombo to celebrate the International Day of Yoga 2017.

The journey connected thousands of minds, spreading the message of yoga for well-being, Sandhu said.

He asked the youth to remember the freedom fighters who laid their lves fo the freedo struggle and told them to make a trip to the cellular jails, especially the Cellular Jail, also known as ' Kaala Paani' jail in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands.

This year marks the third commemoration of the day which was proposed by the Prime Minister of India Shri Narendra Modi. Union Ministers Ravi Shankar Prasad, Nitin Gadkari, JP Nadda, Smriti Irani, Dharmendra Pradhan and Piyush Goyal will take part in International Yoga Day functions at Patna, Nagpur, Chandigarh, Kochi, Bhubaneswar, Visakhapatnam respectively.

The Indian High Commission in Pakistan also celebrated the International Day of Yoga with great fervor. It has written letters to different Ambassadors and Embassies and urged to make the event successful.
