Heathrow Terminal 3 evacuated after reports of fire alarms

The issue was treated as a matter of "urgency" but it was established there had not been a fire.

Heathrow, Transport for London (TfL) and the Department for Transport have agreed a commitment to boost integrated rail connectivity to the airport, including the addition of two new Elizabeth line trains per hour serving Terminal 5 from December 2019. "We are investigating this as a matter of urgency and will provide an update shortly".

Pictures shared on social media showed crowds of passengers marching out of the terminal, which is used by many airlines including British Airways, Qantas and American Airlines.

At, 12.56pm, Heathrow tweeted: "T3 has been evacuated following a fire alarm". Staff remained very calm + kept things orderly.

The airport said journey times to Heathrow from Bond Street will be 27 minutes, 35 minutes from Liverpool Street and 39 minutes from Canary Wharf.

He said: "Heathrow, TfL and the DfT are working together to boost rail connections to the UK's hub, giving our passengers more choices to travel sustainably between Heathrow and London".

Over the years, many icons and even Royalty have walked through Heathrow.

"Passengers will be directed back into the terminal shortly".

An airport spokesman said Terminal 3 was evacuated following a fire alarm, adding: "Our teams have investigated and there is no fire in Terminal 3 despite the alarm".
