The Aaykar Setu app can be downloaded by giving missed calls to +91 - 7306 52 52 52.

The app offers a live chat facility in the form of a "Chatbot" from 10 am to 6 pm which will provide solution to queries of taxpayers relating to PAN, TAN, TDS, return filing, refund status and tax payments.

Trump says West needs will to survive
Donald Trump is expected to hold his first meeting as US president with Vladimir Putin on Friday, at the G20 summit in Hamburg. He also delivered a warning to Russia, whose aggressive moves on Poland's eastern flank are eyed with considerable suspicion.

All taxpayers who wish to receive SMS alerts should register their mobile numbers in the Aayakar Setu module. Additionally, you can also find a QR code on the Income Tax Department's website to download the mobile application.

He said that this e-initiative would help in reducing physical interface between assesses and tax assessing authorities and thereby minimizing the chances of any tax harassment. "Physical interface has many unintended consequences - it is time consuming and can lead to improprieties", Jaitley said.

Aaykar Setu allows you to do pretty much anything related to tax paying, including tracking TDS, paying taxes, applying for permanent account number (PAN), among various other things. "Not that this reason has much reason in it, but today this reason gets eliminated more the interface is reduced", he said.

It has launched a mobile app, Ayakar Setu, which facilitates easier tax payment, grievance redressal and many other hard tax-related issues of the common man. "The new step is an effort by the income tax department to directly communicate with the taxpayers, on a range of multiple informative and useful tax services aimed at providing tax information at their fingertips", the Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) said in a statement. Along with the desktop version, a mobile-responsive Android version has also been released in a bid to enhance mobile access experience.
