Turkey marks coup attempt anniversary
A prolonged state of emergency in place since the coup attempt allows the government to rule through decrees. A faction of the army tried to seize power from President Recep Tayyip Erdogan but the attempt collapsed.

He was then pulled into a cave by the water despite his friends' efforts to form a human chain to save him.

An air ambulance and a search and rescue helicopter were also dispatched to the scene near Blair Atholl with police divers continuing the operation into Thursday morning.

The friend who the man helped to rescue is safe but said to be in deep shock.

He added: "Our thoughts are with his family".
