Formula E has announced that this weekend's inaugural New York City ePrix will be the first zero-emission race in the history of the series after joining forces with Enel. This is one of the series' nine stops across five continents.

Formula E has promoted clean technology since becoming the world's first all-electric single-seater series back in 2014, taking events to major world cities such as London, Paris, Hong Kong and Beijing.

The race weekend will include both Round 9 and Round 10 of the 2017 season, with a 43-lap main event Saturday and a 49-lap race Sunday.

Formula E Racing isn't your typical motorsport race so the drivers let us know what to expect.

Altice CEO says wants to grow in Portugal, no layoffs underway
It also owns the leading free-to-air TV broadcasting channel in the country, as well as the second largest radio group. Michel Combes, CEO of Altice, said: “We are extremely excited about the acquisition of Media Capital.

Enel, Formula E's official power partner, will "offset the emissions of the event in NY through green certificates from its portfolio of renewable energy plans", as per a statement from Formula E.

"It was an honor to be invited to join the closing bell ceremony at the New York Stock Exchange", Formula E CEO Alejandro Agag said.

"With the continued support of Enel, as well as DHL, Formula E isn't just making history with the first-ever race in NY - but the first zero-emission event in the history of the series", Agag said.
