The FIR was lodged against Ganguly at the Nimta police station under Barrackpore police commissionerate yesterday (July 15) for her reportedly controversial remark that wives and daughters in Bengal can not survive for 15 days without getting raped, a senior police officer of the commisionerate told PTI today.

Following the incident, a woman lodged a complaint against the MP at Nimta police station in Kolkata.

Roopa Ganguly attacked Mamata Banerjee government on the law and order situation in the state and said, "Send their (Trinamool workers) wives and daughters to Bengal, if they are able to survive there for 15 days without getting raped, then tell me". "Then only the truth behind her statement will be realised", he told ANI. "We have initiated an inquiry into the matter", the officer said.

Roopa Ganguly's rape remark is downright disgusting. The tribals in the area went on a rampage and also demanded arrests in the case.

As West Bengal still struggles to come out of the current unrest going on there, yet another controversy involving the state has sparked off.

Disney casts live-action Aladdin stars, Will Smith, Mena Massoud, Naomi Scott!
Dan Lin will produce the project under his Lin Pictures banner and Jonathan Eirich will executive produce. The three cast members were announced at the D23 Expo on Saturday.

Ganguly who has been dismissive of the facts, valiantly said that she stood by her comments despite critics claiming it to be a self goal. Ghosh had yesterday threatened that he will torch Banerjee's residence if the state police tried to arrest him under false cases.

Reacting angrily, state Power Minister and senior Trinamool Congress leader Sovandeb Chatterjee said: "She calls herself a cultural personality, and makes such comments". She said that the TMV leaders were far away from the ground reality.

However, the controversy took to a new level when the comments were countered by TMC leader Shovandeb Chattopadhyay.

The statement set off controversial remarks from the government as well.
