Charles and Camilla have been captured by celebrity photographer Mario Testino looking relaxed, happy and smiling.

Prince Charles and Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall, have unveiled their official portrait ahead of Camilla's 70th birthday on Monday. To celebrate the occasion, she has hosted not one, but two birthday parties.

And result is a beautifully lit and flattering image of a couple completely at ease with each other.

The party was the second celebration of Camilla's birthday, which falls on Monday 17 July.

In the new photograph, Camilla - in a navy blue dress coat by designer Fiona Clare - poses with husband Prince Charles in the Morning Room at Clarence House, their London residence. The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge along with their children, Prince George and Princess Charlotte and even Prince Harry were all noticeably absent from the event.

The Duchess reaches her milestone birthday in good form.

She also appears to have been given warmer highlights by her personable colourist, Jo Hansford, whom she still likes to visit in person at her Mayfair salon for an all-over colour and gossip.

He added: "I'm honoured to document their royal highnesses the Prince of Wales and the Duchess of Cornwall on this very important date". "I first photographed the Duchess after her wedding to the Prince on a commission from British Vogue in 2006, and discovered a kind and attractive person with a wonderful sense of humour", he said.

Prince Charles' wife Camilla is turning 70 with few complaints, although she admits her feet are sore after a long day of royal duties.

Testino was one of hundreds of guests at a Clarence House garden party on Thursday for the Duchess to acknowledge the people she works with, from charity bosses to celebrities.

Royal Central will be providing special coverage of the Duchess of Cornwall's birthday throughout the day.

Valentine is widely credited as the person who has helped Camilla to find her own sense of modern, personal style since she married Prince Charles in 2005.
