Ohio State football has added the country's best tight end in the 2018 recruiting class.

The five-star Lindenhurst (N.Y.) SHS prospect picked the Buckeyes out of a final list that also included midwest powers Michigan, Notre Dame and Wisconsin.

Ohio State's 14 ESPN 300 commits are the most of any program in 2018 as Miami is a close second, now holding on to 13 ESPN 300 prospects and Texas and Penn State are next with 10.

Jose Mourinho has already made two signings this summer but is keen to acquire more players in the transfer window. Mourinho is on the hunt for a defensive midfielder despite Michael Carrick extending his contract until 2018.

Ruckert revealed the decision in a video he tweeted in which the finalists were represented in a go-kart race dubbed "The Commitment Grand Prix", with Ohio State crossing the finish line first.

Ruckert becomes the 15th commitment in Ohio State's 2018 class, which has surpassed Miami (Fla.) and is once again the No. 1 recruiting class in the 247Sports composite ratings. Ruckert is the second NY native in Ohio State's class, joining four-star OT Matt Jones of Brooklyn Erasmus Hall.
