Presidential Elections: Congress holds meeting in support of Meira Kumar

With the odds stacked against her, the Congress-led opposition's presidential candidate Meira Kumar on Sunday urged the members of the electoral college to heed their "voice of conscience" and vote for an ideology that binds India. At the same time, MIM do not want to be seen supporting Congress and so the party says it is supporting the candidate of the 16 Opposition Parties.

Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Congress today held a meeting at the official residence of Leader of Opposition Narsingha Mishra here in connection with the upcoming presidential election.

The Congress and NCP in their meeting also said that like minded parties such as CPM, Samajwadi Party, Peasants and Workers Party and MIM will vote for the UPA nominee Meira Kumar. TRS president and Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao is keen on ensuring Kovind's resounding victory from Telangana. The Opposition expects 90 plus votes in favour of Meira Kumar.
