Star Wars: The Last Jedi to offer 'catharsis' for Carrie Fisher fans

Following the red motif of the first trailer, the new teaser posters showcase the key characters in crimson attire that matches the movie's logo.

The first footage from the eighth installment of the "Star Wars" movie series has recently been released by Disney, showing Finn and new character Rose (Kelly Marie Tran) both being imprisoned and undercover as First Order officers.

With the fast approaching mid-December release of The Last Jedi, Disney has proven itself to be effective in keeping information vague regarding the details about the movie.

The thrilling video includes shots of Mark Hamill, the late Carrie Fisher and Daisy Ridley, among other stars.

A United States reporter tweeted the words of Bob Iger who said: "This is the best performance of Mark Hamill as Luke Skywalker to date".

Some of the main casts assure the fans that the upcoming film would be original and unexpected.

Following the Star Wars: The Last Jedi panel at D23, during which we got a behind-the-scenes sizzle reel for the hotly-anticipated blockbuster [watch it here], director Rian Johnson is out doing the media rounds, discussing everything from the meaning of the title (once again) to the heart of the blockbuster during an interview with Good Morning America.

Fisher says during the footage that "it's about family, and that's what's so powerful about it".

Carrie Fisher's role in "Star Wars: The Last Jedi" is set to offer "some kind of catharsis" for fans of the late actress.

The film is due to hit Irish screens on December 15 this year, and is expected to be a smash hit.
