The latest iteration of the Suzuki Swift gets a new version in Japan.

Maruti Suzuki has not given any indication whether the hybrid Swift will come to India.

Available in two variants - SG and SL, the Suzuki Swift Hybrid is a lot of different from the hybrids that were shown at the time of the global unveil which were equipped with SHVS, and instead carries an electric motor assisting the petrol unit. A 5-speed automatic gearbox transmits power to the front wheels.

The new variants uses the same 1.2 litre Petrol engine that generates 91hp.

The hybrid system present is capable of shutting off the petrol engine and transferring the propulsion duties to the electric motor when the vehicle is either coasting or crawling in heavy traffic.

Leaked financial results showed Eskom has only R20-billion left and will be unable to pay November salaries unless it receives a bailout.

The Swift Hybrid SL variant comes equipped with paddle shiftters.

The system offers two driving modes to let the driver select between brisk driving, and driving with priority on fuel efficiency by increasing the frequency of EV driving. Advanced safety features including the Dual Sensor Brake Support (DSBS) collision-mitigating system that features a monocular camera and laser sensor to detect pedestrians and vehicles ahead, as well as SRS curtain airbags and front seat SRS side airbags, come as standard.

The Suzuki Swift Hybrid is based on the latest generation Swift, which is due in India by late 2017 - early 2018.

The Suzuki Swift Hybrid remains the same in proportions and it is the technology under the hood that has seen a change.
