Track Fire In Harlem Disrupts Subway Service; 9 Treated For Smoke Inhalation

A trash fire on the tracks is snarling the Monday morning commute for riders on the A and C lines in Manhattan.

The fire broke out near St. Nicholas Avenue about 7:24 a.m. and raged until about 9:25 a.m. when it was finally brought under control, FDNY officials said. The power is off on the tracks and they are looking between the 145th Street and 135th Street stations.

There is no A train service between 125 St and Inwood-207 St in both directions.

There is no B train service between Bedford Pk Blvd and Brighton Beach in both directions.

As a result, C and B train service was suspended, the MTA said. Some D trains were stopping at 36th Street, West Fourth Street or Herald Square, the MTA said.

B and C trains are completely suspended, while A and D train commuters face a partial shut down.

The track fire comes as the MTA prepares to start a second straight week of FASTRACK repairs on the line. Repairs are planned from 10:00 p.m. and 5:00 a.m. the week of July 17, 2017- no A trains will run between 59th Street and 168th Street, no D trains will run between 59th Street and 161st Street-Yankee Stadium and service on the B and C trains will end early each night.
