Man arrested in death of woman in Todd County

A "person of interest" in the apparent killing of a woman in central Minnesota is custody.

Police had asked for the public's help in locating Jose Raul Herrera Torres, 35, of Long Prairie, Minn., after officers in Long Prairie discovered the body of a woman in a residence at about 8 p.m. Thursday.

Witnesses heard arguing at the residence shortly after 5:30 p.m. Both Herrera and his vehicle were missing.

Authorities said evidence at the scene indicates the woman was a victim of homicide. The Anoka County Medical Examiner is conducting an autopsy.

"Herrera is described as 6'2" tall, weighs approximately 223 pounds with brown hair and brown eyes.

On Friday morning, Herrera had not been located, and police believed he may have been headed to California or Mexico.
