Francesco Totti's final Roma shirt was launched into space from French Guyana

Francesco Totti may have retired, but he will always be a star for Roma after a replica of his final iconic jersey was launched into space.

Despite Francesco Totti receiving an emotional farewell by Roma back in May, the club went beyond the realms of imagination to honour their former player once again.

According to Roma's official website, it was the club themselves who first suggested propelling Totti's jersey into space to immortalise their retiring legend's commitment and dedication over the years.

The flight plans were prepared in Italy and on Tuesday night, the rocket "Vega", carrying the famous shirt, was launched from French Guyana.

The former Italy worldwide, who lifted the 2006 World Cup, won one Serie A title with Roma in 2001, and scored 307 goals in 786 appearances for the club, making his debut aged 16.
