Briefing journalists on the August 8 motion of no confidence in Zuma brought by opposition parties in the National Assembly, Mthembu said Zuma's removal would collapse government and plunge the country into crisis. Whether you bring it through a secret ballot or through an open ballot ... we have confidence in our members.

"The religious leaders are of the view that the current government has lost all moral legitimacy to lead South Africa: a country that finds itself in a political and socio-economic quagmire‚" said the SACC.

"Voting in favour of this motion will be tantamount to throwing a nuclear bomb at our country".

"The next election is in 2019, where the opposition will face the ruling party and this we accept [that] there can never be a shortcut to the removal of the ANC other than in 2019", they said in a statement.

The motion would be defeated irrespective of whether Speaker Baleka Mbete decided the vote will be held via secret ballot, said Mthembu.

Disney's live-action Aladdin casts Jafar
The diabolical Jafar was originally voiced to perfection by Jonathan Freeman in the animated film. He is widely considered to be one of the best villain's in Disney's storied history.

He urged ANC MPs, who are deployed to the legislature by the party, to follow the party's line as not to vote with the opposition in the no confidence motion.

Mthembu acknowledged that members of the ANC have raised various issues within the structures of the party.

The chorus of criticism against Zuma from inside the ruling African National Congress and the opposition has grown since he fired Pravin Gordhan as finance minister in March, a move that prompted S&P Global Ratings and Fitch to downgrade South Africa's credit rating to "junk" status.

"Concerned South Africans must know that they have an ally in the ANC Caucus and not an enemy", he said.

"Our decision to vote against this motion must therefore not be seen as defending or protecting any individual".
