The Chhattisgarh Police have started an investigation against some Central Reserve Police Force personnel following complaints that they molested schoolgirls at a government hostel in Palnaar, Dantewada, the Hindustan Times reported on Monday. The children told their principal, and a case was registered under Section 354 IPC and POCSO.

A five-member committee, headed by the Dantewada Zila panchayat chief executive officer other includes district education officer (DEO), tehsildar, Dantewada additional superintendent of police (ASP) and sub-divisional magistrate (SDM) was formed to probe the matter.

I couldn't help but think of this piece when I read the infuriating reports coming out of Chattisgarh about a Raksha Bandhan celebration held in Dantewada on July 31st. Keeping in view the security of the girls and their families, the jawans will not be paraded before them, said a senior district official. Two men in uniform met them and said they were to be frisked. "More sections can be added based on Section 164 of the CrPC and statements of victims", he added.

Details were still being worked out about which lawmakers would be included in the visit. Gabriel said Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu agreed to the proposal.

Dantewada Collector Saurabh Kumar told PTI that on August 2, he went to the hostel, along with the Dantewada Superintendent of Police (SP) and local CRPF Deputy Inspector General, and spoke to the girls. "We are in constant touch with the CRPF, which is also investigating the matter at its level, and trying our best to identify the accused so that the harshest punishment can be meted out to them", said the collector.

Tribal leader Soni Sori also visited the school a couple of days back but the warden did not allow her to enter the school. When the programme concluded, few school girls were allegedly molested in toilet of an ashram in Palnar, 25 km away from the district headquarters of Dantewada.
