Cynthia Nixon, former "Sex and the City" star, confirmed on national television Tuesday that she is getting encouragement to run a Democratic primary campaign against Gov. Andrew Cuomo in 2018. "And I think for a variety of reasons, but I think the number one is education". The actress also compared Cuomo to President Trump's secretary of education, Betsy DeVos, claiming that Cuomo's policies were dangerously close to those of DeVos, policies that would "shortchange" the children of NY state and the state's public schools.

She wouldn't even say if she is considering a run for governor.

"Basically, Governor Cuomo is shortchanging the children of NY state", Nixon said on US chat show The View.

If she was going to run, the actress, who has played famous U.S. First Ladies Nancy Reagan and Eleanor Roosevelt on screen in the past, would have to compete against other Democratic challengers such as Syracuse Mayor Stephanie Miner and former state Senator Terry Gipson.

Senator Orrin Hatch Scolds Internet About True Meaning of Shooting Wads
As Hatch's comment began circulating on social media Monday, the senator shared a "valuable" lesson on Civil War jargon. They shot their wad on health care and that's the way it is. "I'm sick of it", he added.

"That gap now between our richest schools and our poorest schools is wider under Gov. Cuomo than it ever has been before, and that's got to stop", she said.

But Nixon charged that Cuomo hasn't done enough to address the issue. The $26 billion in state aid to schools in the most in NY history.

While Cuomo has argued that the school funding formula has been increasingly focused toward poor schools, education groups said more needs to be done - and at least one group is encouraging Nixon to run. But his poll numbers have been declining, there are daily headlines about problems with the New York City subway system that he controls, and two corruption trials - which began with a probe of the Buffalo Billion program - are set to begin next year.
