The National Space Agency has announced that the skies of Malaysia will be adorned with a Perseids meteor shower this Saturday night at approximately 12:30am.

Meteor showers take place when Earth passes through the tail of a comet...in this case, comet Swift-Tuttle and we've been watching this shower for two thousand years.

NASA said some 150 meteors will rain down each hour starting Saturday night during Perseids' peak.

"However, the waning gibbous moon will make it a challenge to see the meteor shower clearly", the statement read, as quoted in Bernama.

And previously, Jassim Lari of the Qatar Astronomy Club recommended heading to any dark location in the country to observe the meteor shower.

"This is a nice time of the year to watch these meteorites, and it will be a good thing to do this weekend", added Al Shabani. This is where the radiant is, or the point in the sky where the meteors will appear to originate from.
