At least 15 people were killed and 32 injured after explosion rocked a high-security zone of Quetta's Pishin Stop in Pakistan tonight, according to DawnNews.

Baluchistan's Home Minister Mir Sarfaraz Bugti said the bomb was apparently kept in a vehicle parked near the bus stop.

Casualties were also confirmed by rescue and hospital sources.

In August previous year, at least 74 people were killed in a suicide attack on the city's Civil Hospital, while another 60 were killed in an attack on a police academy two months later.

The blast came two days before Pakistan's 70th Independence Day, and the military chief said it was an effort to mar celebrations. "Our resolve won't succumb to any challenge", Maj Gen Asif Ghafoor tweeted.

Balochistan Home Minister Sarfraz Bugti said the nature of the blast couldn't be ascertained, adding that security forces might be the target. Rescue services have reached the site and are conducting rescue activities. "Several vehicle and auto rickshaws have been burnt or damaged after the blast as they caught fire due to the intensity of the blast", the official said.
