On Thursday, August 10, at approximately 6:00 pm, members of Specialized Enforcement Division arrested Anthony Pitts leaving his mother's home in Redlands.

A documented gang member, his girlfriend and a friend were arrested in the fatal shooting of a 12-year-old girl in Victorville, San Bernardino County Sheriff John McMahon announced Friday. His girlfriend, 29-year-old Danielle Cummings, and her friend, 28-year-old Reyna Mercado, were also arrested. "Investigators determined there was an ongoing feud between the suspect and the victim's family, and the victim's residence was targeted by Pitts, Cummings and Mercado", McMahon said, adding that the young girl was not the intended target.

The investigation is ongoing and anyone with information is asked to contact Detective Chuck Phillips, Homicide Detail at (909) 387-3589 or Sheriff's dispatch at (760) 956-5001. But Gaffney said Makiya's family helped investigators piece together clues that led to Thursday's arrests.

The House is also sitting on two other " bathroom bills ", the group notes, and Abbott could even call another special session. Local officials around the state, including San Antonio Mayor Ron Nirenberg, are against the bill.

Neighbors told reporters they heard multiple gunshots. She was rushed to a local hospital, where she later died.

Makiya's mother, whose identity was not immediately released, was involved in threatening activity against Pitts and his associates, the sheriff said.

She was taken into custody Thursday night on a warrant regarding those threats, McMahon said.
