Burnley's win, their first at Chelsea since 1971, further blackened the mood around Stamford Bridge after a close season during which Conte has grown frustrated by his club's lack of transfer activity.

Chelsea very almost completed a dramatic comeback in the second half, with goals from substitute Alvaro Morata and David Luiz, but a red card for Cesc Fabregas meant that their attempt to recover was carried out with nine men, and Burnley were resolute enough to secure the win.

"Instead we conceded three goals and the second half was very hard to change the result, despite the great commitment, the great desire, the great will of my players".

While Antonio Conte has added to his squad this summer with the major signings of Alvaro Morata, Tiemoue Bakayoko and Antonio Rudiger, they've also continued to let players leave the club. We kept the ball better, kept probing, and we kept putting balls in the box and go in 3-0.

The visitors were the better side overall with a disciplined, energetic and ruthless first-half display that saw them put three past the Blues, with Sam Vokes netting twice.

"During my time at Juve I didn't score more than 20 goals a year but I won every title except the Champions League".

At 3-0 down and going into the second-half there was little inspiration for manager Antonio Conte to turn to on the bench. The Blues'captain Gary Cahill was shown a straight red card in the 13th minute for a lunge on Steven Defour.

Morata started on the bench for Chelsea against Burnley but replaced the anonymous Michy Batshuayi in the second half.

In the first game of the night, Miguel Britos scored a controversial 93rd-minute equaliser for Watford as Liverpool were held in a thrilling game at Vicarage Road.

Sean Dyche's side finished six points and two places clear of the relegation zone in their first campaign back in the top tier but remain among the bookmakers' relegation favourites. It's obvious because the linesman is on the line.

Burnley made it 3-0 before half-time when Vokes headed in Defour's free-kick.

Chelsea broke their transfer record to sign Morata from Real Madrid last month in a deal worth a reported £70 million (Dh332.4m), with the Spain worldwide recruited to replace Diego Costa, who is set to leave the club this summer.

Ahmed Hegazi scored in his debut for West Brom, on loan from Egypt's Al Ahly. "If he gets 4 this will be one hell of a game".
