Having scored 10 tries against Spain, England repeated the trick at Belfield on Sunday, outclassing an Italian outfit who have given them problems in the past.

Emily Scarratt captains England from outside centre with regular captain Sarah Hunter starting from the bench.

A few minutes later, Alex Matthews touched down under the posts to leave Scaratt with an easy conversion to make it 12-0.

Italy started to narrow the gap, with a penalty and a try from Maria Magatti bringing the score back to 12-8 with 22 minutes on the clock.

But a great team try eased the pressure on England with winger Lydia Thompson touching down after receiving the ball from Danielle Waterman.

England responded with a similarly well-worked try from Thompson, the winger's 29th in worldwide rugby, and just before the break flanker Marlie Packer's storming run set up skipper Amy Cokayne for another to make it 22-8 at half-time.

Three 2014 World Cup winners - Tamara Taylor, the second row, Marlie Packer, the flanker, and scrum half Natasha Hunt - as well as Amy Wilson Hardy, the wing, all played their first part in this campaign, and contributed to a more well-oiled performance.

Portia Woodman ran in eight of New Zealand's 19 tries as the Black Ferns ran away with the game.

Tamara Taylor strolled over shortly after the restart - Scarratt swiftly followed suit - but Italy had a second try when Elisa Giordano squeezed over following a powerful driving maul.
