You're the Worst scribe Alison Bennett has been tapped to write a new take on the How I Met Your Mother spinoff, The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed.

More recently, This Is Us writers Isaac Aptaker & Elizabeth Berger wrote a new version that came with a slightly modified title: How I Met Your Father.

After these two attempts, 20th is finally confident they've found their winning ingredients and Alison will pen the new series, starting from absolute scratch!

20th tried to launch the CBS pilot How I Met Your Father three years ago, followed by This Is Us co-executive producers then trying their hands at ideas for a spin-off. "She is completely original, hilariously amusing and a big, big talent". The CBS sitcom's original creators, Carter Bays and Craig Thomas are attached to executive produce the spin-off, though their involvement will be limited.

First woman to join Navy SEAL training pipeline drops out
Another woman has set her sights on becoming a Special Warfare Combatant Crewman, another job that recently opened to women. For example, 18 other women were accepted to the first phase of Army Ranger training with Griest and Have.

How I Met Your Father is will be developed internally and written on spec at 20th Century TV, with no network attached.

No network is tied to the show yet, but we can not wait to see this once it hits our screens! I hear it incorporates some of Bennett's personal experiences.

The spin-off will take a fresh look at the overall concept of a young ensemble series, building the narrative around a mother's narration of how she met her spouse.

In addition to serving as a supervising producer on the Stephen Falk-created FX/FX Productions comedy series You're the Worst, Bennett has also worked as a writer and producer on Hulu's The Awesomes and Comedy Central's Idiotsitter.
