The candlelight vigil Friday night on the north side of Newton was a way for friends and far-flung family members to remember Alyssa Runyon, 24, and her daughter, 4-year-old Zaylynn Paz. Runyon's aunt, Penny Cyprety, says she will always remember Runyon's talent.

Everyone in attendance Friday wore pink and orange ribbons, Alyssa's favorite colors.

Earlier in the day, the man accused of killing them - Keith Lane Hawkins - arrived back in Harvey County and learned he had been charged with capital murder and two counts of first-degree murder in the deaths of the mother and child.

1 killed, driver arrested in Charlottesville
The mayor of Charlottesville said via Twitter on Saturday that he is "heartbroken" to announce that a "life has been lost". The city has become ground zero for white nationalist and other protesters, who faces larger counter-rallies in the past.

Family members tell KAKE News the funeral will be held Wednesday, but other details haven't been released.

"It means a lot I see a lot of love, I see a lot of care in this town".

Police said Hawkins was arrested later Tuesday in Taylor, Texas, where he allegedly was found driving Runyon's vehicle.
