Two US soldiers killed in northern Iraq

The United States military says two of its servicemen have been killed while carrying out combat operations in northern Iraq, but it has ruled out the role of "enemy contact" in their death.

Central Command said in a statement that five other soldiers were wounded in Sunday's incident, without providing further details. It did not identify the soldiers. "There are no words to describe the respect I have for you and sorrow I have for your loss".

The U.S. military announcement came as thousands of U.S. troops are participating in the war against the IS group in Iraq.
