Market Vectors Gold Miners ETF (NYSE:GDX) saw a significant increase in short interest during the month of July.

Another popular tool among technical stock analysts is the moving average. Once you've confirmed the trend by recognizing price as being below or above the cloud, you can move to the moving averages. Ichimoku Kinko Hyo, which translates to "equilibrium at a glance chart", was developed to allow a trader to quickly and easily appraise the trend, momentum, and support and resistance levels of an asset, from a single chart.

Ichimoku Kinko Hyo is a technical trend trading charting system that has been used by Japanese commodity and stock market traders for decades and is gaining increasing popularity amongst western stock market traders, being commonly referred to as Ichimoku Cloud charts.

Over the past 50 days, VanEck Vectors ChinaAMC China Bond ETF (:CBON) stock was -0.24% off of the high and 6.18% removed from the low. The RSI was created by J. Welles Wilder who was striving to measure whether or not a stock was overbought or oversold. The ATR may assist traders with figuring out the strength of a breakout or reversal in price.

GlaxoSmithKline plc (LON:GSK) Rating Reiterated by Shore Capital

Some investors may find the Williams Percent Range or Williams %R as a helpful technical indicator. The Williams %R is a momentum indicator that helps measure oversold and overbought levels. The RSI oscillates on a scale from 0 to 100. A reading from -80 to -100 would signal an oversold situation. A value between 0 to -20 would represent a strong overbought condition. CCI generally measures the current price relative to the average price level over a specific time period. Presently, VanEck Vectors Natural Resources ETF (HAP) has a 14-day Commodity Channel Index (CCI) of -48.93. The CCI was developed by Donald Lambert. The assumption behind the indicator is that investment instruments move in cycles with highs and lows coming at certain periodic intervals.

The Average Directional Index or ADX is a popular technical indicator created to help measure trend strength. Currently, the 14-day ADX is 20.30. Many chart analysts believe that an ADX reading over 25 would suggest a strong trend. A value of 25-50 would support a strong trend. In general, a rising ADX line means that an existing trend is gaining strength.

The most basic theory of this indicator is that if the price is above the cloud, the overall trend is bullish while below the cloud is bearish, and in the cloud is non-biased or unclear. Currently, the 200-day MA is sitting at 22.88, and the 50-day is 23.71. Tracking the technicals and staying up on the fundamentals should help investors hone in on the next wave of stocks to add to the portfolio. The latest reading places the stock below the Ichimoku cloud which indicates negative momentum and a potential sell signal. Moving averages can be very useful for identifying peaks and troughs.
