- When Andrew Luck returns to the playing field, Indianapolis Colts owner Jim Irsay knows this much: His franchise quarterback will be healthy. Irsay wouldn't guarantee that Luck would be under center for the team's season opener, but he does think he will be ready to play near the beginning of the season.

In a television interview during a preseason game against the Detroit Lions, Colts general manager Chris Ballard said Luck's shoulder is stronger now than it was at any point in 2016. So clearly, the Colts are seeing some good things from their quarterback.

Colts reporter Stephen Holder made it very clear that the mystery veteran QB was not Colin Kaepernick, who has been discussed as a possible emergency option if Luck has to miss a considerable amount of time.

"I can't say that Luck will be ready for the Rams game but he will be ready for the start of the season", Irsay said vaguely, via CBS4 Indy.
