President Donald Trump issued a new threat to North Korea on Friday, saying the USA military was "locked and loaded" as Pyongyang accused him of driving the Korean peninsula to the brink of nuclear war and world powers expressed alarm.

Earlier today the President warned that military plans are "locked and loaded" and urged Kim to "find another path".

Public safety officials in Guam have distributed a two-page pamphlet advising island residents how to prepare and react should North Korea follow through on threats to launch a nuclear strike against the USA territory. This is why containment of the Pyongyang nuclear threat remains by far the best USA option.

After Pyongyang conducted two successful tests of an intercontinental ballistic missile last month, putting much of the mainland United States within reach, the paper warned: "Trust in the nuclear umbrella the U.S. provides to the South can be shaken". "If we want to avoid that, we need to deter North Korea from taking any other actions that will be so provocative, they will require retaliation".

Japanese media said Tokyo was deploying its Patriot missile defence system following Pyongyang's threat to fire ballistic missiles over the country towards Guam.

BEIJING-The North Korean nuclear issue needs a peaceful resolution, Chinese President Xi Jinping told U.S. President Donald Trump in a telephone call on Saturday, and called on the "relevant side" to exercise restraint, state television said.

USA financial markets took the increased rhetoric in stride.

The crisis has gripped much of the region.

Karly O'Neal, a mechanical engineer who has lived in Guam for 10 years, said the threat posed to Guam by North Korea has probably been overhyped. And when he says something stupid or conveys weakness, as he did with thanking Russian President Vladimir Putin for kicking out our diplomats, he uses the same phony excuse: Just kidding!

Depending on the results, the United States could either seek remedies through the World Trade Organization or outside of it. National security is national security".

If the missiles landed within 40 kilometers (25 miles) of Guam, as threatened, according to UN law, they would fall within the United States' exclusive economic zone although not their territorial waters.

"Unfortunately the rhetoric in Washington and Pyongyang is starting to go off the charts", Lavrov said.

Yesterday they blamed the escalating tensions on Trump "making such outcries as 'the United States will not rule out a war against the DPRK (North Korea)'". "I'm so thankful - and I'm glad you are holding the helm, sir".

The communication started again after Trump was inaugurated. Congress and the American public will hold President Trump responsible if a careless or ill-advised miscalculation results in conflict that endangers our service members and regional allies.

Trump added: "Those words are very, very easy to understand".

On Thursday, Trump told reporters: "He does something in Guam, it will be an event the likes of which nobody has seen before, what will happen in North Korea".

The US president, who is on holiday at his Bedminster, New Jersey, golf resort, described American military readiness in stark terms, Reuters reported. This weakens the president in dealing not only with North Korea but also with China, Iran and other threats to our national security.

It's home to a US Navy base and the Andersen Air Force Base, from which American B-1B bombers conducted sorties over the Korean peninsula Tuesday, provoking the ire of Pyongyang's leadership and an escalating war of words between the US and North Korea. -South Korean military exercise, called Ulchi-Freedom Guardian, is expected to proceed as scheduled starting on August 21, said Lieutenant Colonel Christopher Logan, a Pentagon spokesman.
