Twenty years after the death of Diana, hundreds of people made a pilgrimage on a sun-kissed Thursday to the gates of Kensington Palace, her former home, to pay tribute to the woman who many say helped to modernize the fusty Windsors.

Diana died in Paris on Aug. 31, 1997, after the car she was riding in crashed while trying to speed away from paparazzi.

"There's not a day that William and I don't wish that she was ... still around, and we wonder what kind of a mother she would be now", Harry said in a documentary about Diana that aired in July.

Gourmelon says he comforted her and gave her oxygen to help her calm down before she went into cardiac arrest and stopped breathing. "I haven't experienced many people in my life who have that ability, but she could walk into a room of people and make them feel that everything was great", John said.

One of William and Harry's biggest challenges now is keeping Diana's memory alive for William's children, George and Charlotte. "And in the US, where they've never had a king or emperor, they are even crazier when it comes to collecting Diana pictures and magazines".
