Henry Cavill acknowledges 'mistakes' in the DC Extended Universe

JUSTICE LEAGUE, Cert 12A, arrives in Irish cinemas on November 17th. With this, many are hoping that the upcoming Justice League will build on Wonder Woman's success. There was a style they [DC] were going for, an attempt to be different and look at things from a slightly different perspective, which hasn't necessarily worked. Would we rather Cavill fire off a generic, "We make movies for the fans, not the critics", or offer a genuine appraisal of his divisive blockbusters?

As a lifelong fan of the character, one thing I've learned in all my years is that if you're a comic book artist or a film director, you're doing Batman right if he looks angry or brooding.

"It hasn't given everyone that sensation which superheroes should give the viewers", Cavill said before praising Wonder Woman's alternative approach. It is the perfect setting in social politics right now, we need it, we want that perspective, and Wonder Woman has struck at the ideal time and has become a phenomenal success, which is fantastic.

"I think it is a wonderful time for the female hero", Cavill said of Gal Gadot's celebrated heroine. But despite the formation of this unprecedented league of heroes-Batman, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, Cyborg and The Flash-it may already be too late to save the planet from an assault of catastrophic proportions. "Any success within the superhero universe, especially within the DC Universe, is wonderful because I want to keep telling the Superman story; selfishly, that works for me".

Justice League comes out on Nov. 17. "It is even better to come back from a mistake or stylistic error into the correct vein because it will make it seem that much stronger", he said. Suffice it to say, I viewed that piece of merchandise favorably.

The film was partially directed by Zack Snyder - who also directed Man of Steel and Batman v Superman - but he left the project after the tragic death of his daughter.
