Emery: No shame in losing to Real

Real head coach Zinedine Zidane told reporters ahead of their clash with Eibar, that the astronomical price is realistic, given the circumstances of the recent inflated transfer market.

PSG were slow dancing through the first half while their ultras were trying to bring some rock n' roll. As they limp out, Real's dream of becoming the first team in more than 40 years to win three successive European Cups remains alive.

"Tactically we played the right way".

Neymar, one of those huge signings, is recovering from surgery on his right foot back home in Brazil.

This was all part of a concerted effort to motivate the players. He was gifted the ball after midfielder Adrien Rabiot dealt poorly with Lucas Vazquez's cross. "It was a key series". We play at home, eh?

"We needed our heads and our hearts today". "Obviously it became harder for them when we scored the second goal".

We did that, and then some. "We proved that we're still the kings of of Europe".

And, surprisingly, there was criticism from within the Parisian outfit. Karim Benzema wasted the best chance after breaking in all alone the left, with his shot saved by Alphonse Areola.

In the stands, we were united, we screamed "Ensemble nous sommes invincibles, unis par le même passion", we brought the banners, the flares, we bounced together, we hugged each other, we raised the tifo's. "But we have a chance, for sure, to go through to the semifinals". "They offered very little", said Kevin. On Tuesday night they didn't deserve us.

Emery: No shame in losing to Real

Cristiano Ronaldo was showing signs of age earlier in the season.

The defeat condemned PSG - who had Marco Verratti sent off in the second half -to a 5-2 aggregate loss, the second season running in which they have been knocked out in the last 16 after the humiliating loss against Barcelona a year ago. But PSG are, at the moment, laughing it off.

"You're looking at the start of the game, Unai Emery the PSG manager spoke of a team that was going to be set up to attack Real Madrid".

"Winning the Champions League is a slow process, you can't do it overnight".

Nobody has made more than his 33 assists in the Champions League, nobody has bettered his 117 goals, but what matters to seldom-satisfied Madrid fans is what he is doing now.

Ronaldo is hitting top form at a crucial time and has scored in nine Champions League games in a row, matching Ruud van Nistelrooy's record. "We are not happy at all". He had netted twice in the first leg. Similarly, Roman Abramovich bought Chelsea in 2003 but it wasn't until 2012 when Chelsea finally tasted Champions League glory.

Beleaguered PSG coach Unai Emery insisted that there was no shame in losing to Real.

'I will continue competing like I have done and leave the nonsense to stupid people #respectwinorlose'. "He does not care too much about the names".

"This is our goal, to fight with the big teams", he added. Alves wrote in response. Maybe it will, eventually?
