He jumped in his patrol auto and went after the vehicle to conduct a traffic stop. He ordered Strother to stop.

The driver, 53-year-old Edward Strother, eventually stopped on a freeway offramp.

Deputy Dean Bardes recovered from the injuries he sustained during the November 14 attack, but the suspect, 53-year-old Edward Strother, was shot three times and pronounced dead at the scene.

Russell approached the altercation and repeatedly told Strother to stop beating Bardes, but he refused to comply and continued to reach for the deputy's gun. Later, he draws his weapon and three shots ring out.

"Before I got over there, there was a guy that had a gun pulled on him, the guy attacking the police officer, telling him to get off the police officer several times", said Barnes-Morrison.

Emergency crews rushed Strother to a nearby hospital where he later died.

Tillerson: State Department spending levels 'unsustainable'
Secretary of State Rex Tillerson on Thursday defended the President Trump's proposal to cut funding to the State Department.

For his part in the incident, according to a release from the State Attorney's office, Ashad Russell has asked to remain out of the public eye.

Video of an armed Good Samaritan rescuing a Florida deputy has been released four months after the stunning incident was caught on camera.

Russell was not charged with any criminal activity after the state attorney's office ruled that the killing was justified in order to protect Bardes' life.

In the video, Russell walks up to the spot where Strother and Bardes were grappling on the pavement.

Bardes was taken to the hospital, but suffered no serious injuries. Reportedly, not a single 911 phone call was made from the scene. She is an avid Second Amendment supporter and advocate and loves fishing in her free time.
