Coastal Carolina Coach Joe Moglia Will Miss Season Due to Health Concerns

Coastal Carolina coach Joe Moglia will miss the entire 2017 college football season while addressing his bronchial asthmatic reactions, as first reported by Yahoo Sports. The reaction causes inflammation around the lungs.

The doctors and I are confident that this will take care of the problem, and I will be 100% ready to go by the end of the season.

"I want to be clear: I do not have a disease and I am in no danger, but I do need to get this addressed", Moglia stated.

A successful former Wall Street executive who returned to coaching in 2009 after a 25-year hiatus, Moglia has been the head coach of Coastal Carolina since 2012. He then took over for Coastal Carolina, coaching the team to the FCS playoffs in each of his first four seasons (they were ineligible in 2016 as part of their transition to the FBS).

He added his intent is to be back when the season is over and continue is coaching career.

Moglia appointed offensive coordinator Jamey Chadwell to be interim head coach. "He is gifted with an ability to evaluate situations and make decisions from a perspective most people don't see". - Coastal Carolina University President "My thoughts and prayers go out to Coach Moglia and I look forward to his speedy return. This level of proactivity will position him to return and lead our program to many more successes". The Chanticleers will compete as a member of the Sun Belt Conference.
